Colgate Luminous is a unique at-home whitening system combining 6% hydrogen peroxide with LED technology. It does not require you to have impressions, custom made trays or a gel. This also means treatment can be started straight away as part of a current appointment already underway. This makes it an ideal option for busy patients.
How does it work?
The quick drying whitening serum is applied using a precise applicator pen to form a durable layer. The LED device is then worn, accelerating the whitening process, for 10 minutes. The whitening layer remains on the teeth and continues to whiten teeth overnight. This whitening layer is then simply brushed off in the morning.
The kits are all ready to go, all you need to do is book in with a dentist for a quick consult to ensure whitening will be effective and safe for you to use and then you can start whitening your teeth!

By Day – Whitening Kit
By Day is a 6% hydrogen peroxide gel, containing potassium nitrate which is a proven desensitiser.
Worn for just one hour per day, this gel is designed for patients who want a fast, comfortable and convenient solution to whiter teeth. This gel releases large quantities of oxygen free radicals (these are the material which whitens the teeth) over a short period of time, therefore whitening the teeth both quickly and safely.
By Night – Whitening Kit
By Night is a 10% or 16% carbamide peroxide gel, containing potassium nitrate.
Worn overnight (or for four hours during the day), this gel is designed for patients who would prefer to not have their custom trays in during the day and would prefer to whiten whilst they are asleep. The gentler formula also makes it better suited to patients with sensitive teeth.
However, and reassuringly, the process is the same as By Day with the gel releasing oxygen free radicals, but this time over a longer time period. This gradual approach will still give fantastic results, due to the length of time the gel stays active.
Our Whitening procedure is very simple:
- Arrange a consultation at Serenity Dental Spa in Chorlton, Manchester. Here, your dentist will make sure that you choose the most effective treatment so that you can get that bright smile in no time at all.
- Next, we will take some impressions of your teeth to make custom whitening trays. These thin moulds hold our special whitening gel and sit comfortably over your teeth.
- Once your personalised trays have been made (in approximately 1 week), we will provide you with your specialised whitening kit along with a demonstration and written instructions.
Under current EU law it is illegal for anyone other than a dentist or hygienist to provide tooth whitening of any kind despite claims to be qualified and insured – seeking cheap illegal tooth whitening can result in permanent damage to the teeth and gums so ensure your whitening is only carried out by a dental practice
